About

Learning a language is one of the most rewarding, but also most challenging things we’ve ever done.

Traditional tools like textbooks have been essential for us. But what we’ve found is that we learn best through rich, engaging experiences. It’s easy to remember words when they’re reinforced by experiences that move you. We also believe early exposure to engaging content helps prevent learners from giving up before they’re fluent.

A site that can deliver such rich experiences, supported by the right set of tools, can transform language learning. We’re working to make that site a reality for you.

4sqwifi is brought to you by a team of passionate language learners distributed around the world.

4sqwifi began in 2009 in New York City. Our mission was to teach real English the way that it’s used in the real world.

Instead of learning single words and boring grammar rules, 4sqwifi teaches you to look for meaningful phrases. When you study phrases, you learn both vocabulary and grammar at the same time.

In each lesson, we introduce a natural English sentence, explain when you can use it, and break it down into meaningful words and phrases.

Most classes and textbooks teach a formal style of English that’s used in writing. But it’s not as useful for real-world situations. That’s one reason that you might have trouble understanding native English speakers, even if you’ve studied English for a long time in school.

4sqwifi lessons are organized around different realistic situations that you might find yourself in. The phrases we teach are all natural responses to that situation. So you don’t have to worry about learning English that sounds “strange”.
